Cymdeithas Cwmdu Meeting:1st September 2011 Members present:14 Present: Philip, Judy, Kate, Bella, Colin, Chris, Goronwy, Ron, Hywel,Janet, David, John, Celia, Pete. Apologies: David R.Matters Arising from the Minutes of the Last Meeting. * Private function, August Bank Holiday weekend - the general feeling of the meeting was that events such as this should be encouraged but that stricter guidelines with regard to the general management of the facilities should be given. Bar takings were good but there were problems with the number of people parking on the road, loud music and general clearing up the following day. * Music night Bank Holiday Monday was well attended. * Cymdeithas will thank Kath for her work in the shop with a £100 Garden Voucher. A card will be in the shop for all to sign. Tafarn Cwmdu Ltd. Report. Adam has started in the shop with a 3 month probationary period with his main focus to be the organisation of the shop and volunteer staff. He is now registered with the Post Office. Finance - Yearly figures to the end of March 2011 show a continuing increase in sales for both the Pub and Shop with a small but increased surplus. Volunteers - a small but regular number of willing helpers. Kitchen - still no regular cooks. Events and Activity Planning. Fri. 2nd Sept. - Folk Club restarts. Sat. 10th Sept. - Pete Bond's Motorcycle Show and Music Night in aid of LATCH (children's cancer charity). Camping from Friday until Sunday am. for motorcyclists. Bike Show 11.00am until 4.00pm. Three bands will be playing from 7.30pm until midnight. BBQ and Bar on the field. Pete will meet with Philip at 7.00pm Monday 5th to confirm final details. Sat. 17th Sept. - Cwmdu Tractor Run will start in Pumsaint this year. Sat. 1st Oct. - Cwmdu Apple Day. Colin will do posters. Tents to be erected from 10.00am Saturday. Photo competition “Shadows” held over from the Fete. Cookery Competition. Teas 2.00pm until 5.00pm. Volunteers needed for the afternoon bar. Paul will give a talk on” Care and Maintenance of Apple Trees” 3.00pm until 4.00pm. Apple chipper and press available from the Tywi Centre - bring your own containers for juice. Apple bobbing. Longest Apple Peel competition. A.O.B. Change Furniture Fund bottle on the bar to a General Fund to cover the replacement of miscellaneous items.
