At the centre of this picturesque village is the local pub and shop which have been run by the community since the year 2000. These amenities have lead to the village being awarded a Countryside Alliance Award as well as attracting royal attention when Prince Charles visited the village in October 2009.
The terrace which includes the Inn, Shop and Post Office along with private residences is owned by the National Trust whilst the community have the lease and run the inn and shop.
So welcome to our little village, we are all very proud of it we hope that this website will make you want to spend some time with us whether you are a visitor from afar or a local resident. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us – we welcome your feedback.
Latest information – Lock down & Coronavirus regulations
The latest information on the operation of the Pub, Shop, Post Office and Premises
At last – there is the opportunity for the bar to re-open. From Wednesday 28th April the bar will be open for service in the garden on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
We will be applying the regulations and recommendations which govern the operation of licensed premises in this limited relaxation of lockdown rules. Amongst others this will include; ‘track and trace’, limited group sizes, limited overall capacity, social distancing, ordering, service and consumption from seats and tables only and restricted access to the toilet facilities inside the pub.
The restaurant is open again on Saturdays for both eating inside and in the garden with a take-away option where practicable
Shop and Post Office:
We will endeavour to keep the shop and post office operating. The opening hours will remain Tuesday to Friday 9:30 – 1:30 BUT we will be closed on Saturdays.
Please note however that we will be restricting the number of customers in the shop at any one time. You may place your order in advance by phoning the shop on 01558 685156 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Orders for fresh bread and milk (glass bottles) should continue to be made in advance to ensure availability.
The service is, in the main, operated by volunteers, they and the staff very much want to continue to deliver the much appreciated service and so we hope that you can understand when changes to the operation and any occasions when the full service is not available.
